Corporate Relations Manager for Institute Diversity
Atira Rochester is the Corporate Relations Manager for Institute Diversity at Georgia Institute of Technology. She engages companies to fund programs and initiatives for underrepresented minority students and advises students regarding their personal and professional development. In 2017, Atira joined the Equity Work Group of The Kendeda Building for Sustainable Innovative Design (The Living Building at Georgia Tech). Last fall, she co-piloted the Living Building Equity Champions, a group of students focused on three priorities: Provide input and feedback to the design and development of The Kendeda Building; Engage current students in The Kendeda Building’s equity, sustainability, and diversity efforts; and Connect access to The Kendeda Building with the greater Atlanta community, particularly K-12 students. Since joining Georgia Tech in 2010, Atira also has served on the LGBTQIA Resource Center Advisory Board and the Women of Georgia Tech Employee Resource Group leadership team.
Atira has experience in communications, diversity and inclusion, non-profit and educational programming, previously working with The Posse Foundation (Atlanta), Mastery Charter Schools (Philadelphia) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. Atira earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Arts in African American Studies from Temple University. Atira enjoys volunteering in her local community and making memories with her husband, daughter and son.
